World Day Against Pain 2025: living pain-free is possible

World Day Against Pain 2025: living pain-free is possible

Every October 17 is celebrated as World Day Against Pain, a date that seeks to give visibility to one of the most common health problems affecting millions of people: chronic pain.

Far from being a simple nuisance, persistent pain can limit autonomy, affect rest, condition work and social life, and even impair emotional health. Recognizing it as a disease is the first step to accessing more effective solutions and improving patients’ quality of life.

Chronic pain: a global and personal challenge

Chronic pain is considered a public health problem that knows no boundaries. It can appear at any age and is associated with different conditions: back pain, joint pain, migraines, cancer pain or neuropathic pain, among others.

In many parts of the world, and also within vulnerable groups in developed countries, access to adequate treatment is limited. Hence the importance of continuing to promote research, medical education and equal access to safe and advanced therapies.

Effective treatments for chronic pain

Today there are alternatives beyond traditional analgesics. At MIVI Salud Pain Units we work with a comprehensive approach that includes:

  • Minimally invasive techniques that reduce pain without the need for major surgery.
  • Neuromodulation and radiofrequency, advanced technologies to modulate pain transmission.
  • Nerve blocks and interventional procedures, applied in a personalized manner.
  • Rehabilitation and specialized physiotherapy, which help to recover functionality.
  • Psychological support, key to dealing with the emotional impact of pain.

Each patient receives an individualized treatment plan, designed by a multidisciplinary team that combines medical experience, technological innovation and close human treatment.
