What is
Bursae are small sac-like structures that are placed between muscles, tendons and ligaments allowing their displacement. Some hip injuries produce ankle bursitis, which involves an inflammation of these structures producing significant and intense pain.

Causes
- Obesity: the joint is directly overloaded in situations involving excessive weight.
- Hereditary factors: the shape of our legs, of our pelvis conditions a direct overload of this joint.
- Injuries: muscular or Achilles tendon injuries can overload the bursae of the ankle.
- Repetitive use of the ankle.
- Sudden increases in activity.
Symptoms
The pain usually occurs when performing daily activities involving ankle support.
