What is
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs across the sole of the foot and connects the heel bone to the toes. Inflammation of it is known as plantar fasciitis and is one of the most common causes of foot pain.

Causes
- Obesity.
- Impact sports such as running.
- Achilles tendon problems.
- Wearing shoes with poor arch support or soft soles.
Symptoms
The pain of plantar fasciitis manifests slowly as a shooting pain in the sole of the foot that appears at the onset of walking. It may be accompanied by symptoms such as stiffness and burning in the area. The pain is usually worse in the morning, when climbing stairs or after strenuous activity or even when walking.
