Morton’s neuroma

What is

Foot pain due to Morton’s neuroma is caused by an inflammation of one of the nerves that runs through the foot and is called plantar digital nerve.
It is one of the most common causes of pain in the front of the foot and sometimes its intensity leads to the sufferer not being able to put on shoes or support the affected foot.

Causes

Gait and footwear can influence this type of pathology and pain.

It is postulated that repeated impact with a bad footprint can lead to the triggering of this pathology.

Symptoms

This pain usually comes on suddenly and worsens when walking. The patient feels it as an electrical sensation, cramping or tingling. The symptoms of this type of pain are usually very suggestive and sufficient, but sometimes it is necessary to have tests such as an ultrasound and an MRI to confirm it.

Diagnosis and assessment

A correct medical evaluation by means of a good anamnesis and physical examination will be necessary. The multidisciplinary vision is essential for a comprehensive approach (requiring the intervention of professionals in biomechanics, podiatry and physiotherapy), personalized, focused on detecting the factors that have produced the injury.

Complementary tests

X-ray, ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging.

Treatment

Interventional treatment: the pain unit has minimally invasive treatments such as radiofrequency or cryoablation that reduce the transmission of information from the nerve.
Physiotherapy: methodology based on knowledge and clinical reasoning in which we combine a series of techniques and treatments both manual therapy and invasive techniques, always associated or complementing them with cutting-edge technology that allows us to accelerate the recovery process. Among other high-tech devices include Magnetolith, SIS, focal shock waves, Indiba, among others. This therapeutic combination allows us to activate the patient early to begin with a routine and a process of specific therapeutic exercises that allow us to enhance and strengthen the lost functional patterns.

Gracias, gracias, mil gracias…. Unos 6 meses atrás me dijeron que lo único posible para columna era una operación, tornillos por aqui y por allá. Dije que no me atrevía y pedí una segunda opinión, allí me dijeron que esa posibilidad sería la última por los riesgos que comprendía y … me mandaron a la clínica del dolor, Conoci al dr Nicolás Sarria, que además de un excelente profesional , es una caballero respetuoso, cercano , que escucha y atiende con interés y sin prisas, lo que plantea el paciente. Entonces .. comencé con los bloqueos en quirófano . Desde que te reciben en recepción de quirófano encuentra un clima ameno , amable quede encantada con el trato. PERO me llevaron a quirófano , una de mis mejores experiencias a nivel humano. Me encontré con un equipazo de profesionales maravilloso , al igual que el dr.estuvieron a mi lado para contenerme animarme , provocando un clima de tranquilidad y seguridad y precioso ambiente, además de hacer su trabajo estupendamente. Que más se puede pedir????? Solo dar las gracias de corazón , desde mi experiencia sois un tesoro de equipo. Gracias dr, Sarria, gracias equipo ❤️
