Morton’s neuroma

What is

Foot pain due to Morton’s neuroma is caused by an inflammation of one of the nerves that runs through the foot and is called plantar digital nerve.
It is one of the most common causes of pain in the front of the foot and sometimes its intensity leads to the sufferer not being able to put on shoes or support the affected foot.

Causes

Gait and footwear can influence this type of pathology and pain.

It is postulated that repeated impact with a bad footprint can lead to the triggering of this pathology.

Symptoms

This pain usually comes on suddenly and worsens when walking. The patient feels it as an electrical sensation, cramping or tingling. The symptoms of this type of pain are usually very suggestive and sufficient, but sometimes it is necessary to have tests such as an ultrasound and an MRI to confirm it.

Diagnosis and assessment

A correct medical evaluation by means of a good anamnesis and physical examination will be necessary. The multidisciplinary vision is essential for a comprehensive approach (requiring the intervention of professionals in biomechanics, podiatry and physiotherapy), personalized, focused on detecting the factors that have produced the injury.

Complementary tests

X-ray, ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging.

Treatment

Interventional treatment: the pain unit has minimally invasive treatments such as radiofrequency or cryoablation that reduce the transmission of information from the nerve.
Physiotherapy: methodology based on knowledge and clinical reasoning in which we combine a series of techniques and treatments both manual therapy and invasive techniques, always associated or complementing them with cutting-edge technology that allows us to accelerate the recovery process. Among other high-tech devices include Magnetolith, SIS, focal shock waves, Indiba, among others. Pasar por MIVI, con el Dr. Duca, ha sido como renacer. Tras dos infiltraciones, una de ellas en zona sacroiliaca, me ha devuelto la esperanza para poder seguir viviendo con ilusión. ¡Una clínica excelente! Son todos unos profesionales maravillosos, muy competentes y el trato es exquisito, son muy agradables y cariñosos. Se implican personalmente con cada paciente. Muy buen ambiente y buena organización. También el personal de recepción son encantadores y cercanos; te facilitan y ayudan en todo.
Yo ya estuve hace 2 años con una lesión en el hombro y consiguieron recuperarme al 100% y en poco tiempo. Las dos veces llamé y me dieron la cita para las sesiones muy pronto.
